The Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in the day-to-day activities of specifying, designing, testing, purchasing, and manufacturing electro-mechanical components for the Controls Module in Ionada’s Carbon Capture Plants. This position involves close collaboration with design team members, service personnel, and management to make informed design decisions. Additionally, the engineer will develop design specifications, source and purchase components and sub-assemblies, and create comprehensive test plans. Responsibilities also include carrying out tests, analyzing results, and documenting outcomes, all aimed at continuous improvement.

This role demands interaction with control component suppliers to negotiate terms and ensure quality, as well as making strategic buy/build decisions. The Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer will manage projects related to control components and strategies, propose control strategies for specified equipment, and contribute to the certification process. They will also play a key role in implementing new products into production and participating in the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) process.

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience in electro-mechanical component design and manufacturing, handling production volumes of 100 to 1,000 units per year. Experience in designing electric motors, high-pressure solenoid valves, programmable logic controls, pressure and temperature sensors, and quick disconnects is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should have a background in the certification of electro-mechanical components and instrumentation to measure various parameters such as flow, pressure, temperature, gas compositions, and moisture. Proficiency in project management and reporting using relevant software is essential.

A University Degree in electro-mechanical engineering is required, with a preference for those registered as a Professional Engineer of Ontario. The candidate must be computer literate, with proficiency in Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and AutoCAD. The role is best suited for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can handle multiple projects simultaneously with meticulous attention to detail.
